Our Purpose
Jesus said that the church was His and that the gates of Hell would not prevail against it. The church’s purpose is to worship God, and to carry out the work of Jesus on earth. Local congregations like Arlington Baptist Church exist to carry out Christ’s mandates from where we are located. Jesus commanded that “You should love the LORD your God with all your heart, and with all your soul and with all your mind“. He also said, “You shall love your neighbor as you love yourself” ( Matthew 22:36-40). This means that we are His disciples, and as His disciples, Jesus instructed us to “Go therefore and make discples…” (Matthew 28:18-20). Our purpose for existing is to be the body of Christ on earth, and to diligently work to extend the Kingdom of God in our community and throughout the world. We have no higher purpose on earth than to be disciples, making disciples.
Our Vision
- We exist to glorify God by conforming more to the image of Christ, building one another up in love, and making disciples of all nations.
